Mission Statement

The purpose of North Canyon Area Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to higher education for resident students of our community by promoting the Dollars for Scholars program, raising funds for students aid, and distributing awards on a fair and nondiscriminatory basis. 

 

Chapter History

The North Canyon Area Dollars for Scholars Chapter was organized in 1999. Dollars for Scholars is a national network of almost 1,000 grassroots, community-based, volunteer-driven scholarship foundations in cities, towns and neighborhoods throughout the United States. The common element in Dollars for Scholars chapters is community-based fundraising for scholarship awarded to local students. The program mobilizes and unites local citizens and encourages local students to reach for and achieve their educational goals. Dollars for Scholars communities connect young people with caring and supportive adults and the positive connections produce the high expectations and strong motivation that all students need to succeed in school and in life.

Our Board of Directors is comprised completely of volunteers both adults and students.
